Hair Design

The Hair Design Course is 1700 clock hours and takes approximately 10 months to complete.

Unit 1: Pre-Clinic/Freshman Extension
The pre-clinic lab unit is composed of laboratory "hands-on" classes consisting of one 4-week unit of hair sculpturing & hair design, and one 4-week unit of chemical texturizing and hair color.

Unit 2: Sophomore
This section builds on the development of proficiencies in the classes that were introduced during the pre-clinic unit. Clinic/Lab practices continue in the classroom and on the clinic floor working and learning on models, clients and mannequins. Academic classes related to hair structure, analysis, diseases, disorders, anatomy, physiology, electricity, chemistry and trichology are introduced.

Unit 3: Junior
Practical applications of hair services are continued with attention to refining skills, speed and accuracy.

Unit 4: Senior
Senior classes are designed to show new techniques and develop each individual's special interests. Preparation for successful employment is stressed. Classes in academics prepare the Hair Designer to successfully take the written Board of Cosmetology Examination.

*All include and require 100 hours of Career Development and 150 hours of Salon Ecology.

"My freshman educator was able to answer questions with ease. She was very helpful in helping me meet requirements when it came to assignments."
