The Hair Design Course is 1700 clock hours and takes approximately 10 months to complete.
Unit
1: Pre-Clinic/Freshman Extension
The pre-clinic lab unit is composed of laboratory
"hands-on" classes consisting of one 4-week
unit of hair sculpturing & hair design, and one 4-week unit
of chemical texturizing and hair color.
Unit
2: Sophomore
This section builds on the development
of proficiencies in the classes that were introduced during the
pre-clinic unit. Clinic/Lab practices continue in the classroom
and on the clinic floor working and learning on models, clients
and mannequins. Academic classes related to hair structure, analysis,
diseases, disorders, anatomy, physiology, electricity, chemistry
and trichology are introduced.
Unit
3: Junior
Practical applications of hair services are continued with attention
to refining skills, speed and accuracy.
Unit
4: Senior
Senior classes are designed to show new techniques and develop each
individual's special interests. Preparation for successful employment
is stressed. Classes in academics prepare the Hair Designer to successfully
take the written Board of Cosmetology Examination.
