The Barbering course is 1350 hours long and takes approximately 8 months to complete.
Unit
1: Pre-Clinic/Freshman Extension
The
pre-clinic unit of barbering is composed of laboratory "hands-on"
classes in hair sculpturing, clipper use and design, shampooing,
thermal styling, artificial hair, facial hair trimming, and hair
design. You will also attend the first week of freshman level
Esthetics class.
Unit
2: Sophomore
Sophomore
level is the time for refining skills learned in laboratory classes.
Introduction to academic classes in anatomy, facial, head and body
structure, diseases, disorders and trichology are covered.
Unit
3: Junior
Practical applications
on mannequins, models and clients are advanced. Speed, skill
and accuracy are further developed.
Unit
4: Senior
Senior classes teach
advanced techniques and develop the individual interests.
Preparation for successful employment is stressed. Academic classes
prepare the Barber to successfully take the written Board of CosmetologyExamination.

and require 100 hours of Career Development and 150 hours of Salon
Ecology.
